Check these details before downloading
The most important part of using a camera preset is matching it to the right software. Two files with similar names may have very different settings.
- Phone model: Check the exact model, not only the brand. Device variants can differ.
- Camera app: Identify whether you installed GCam, LMC 8.4 or AGC.
- Build and developer: Check the version and, where relevant, the port developer.
- File format: GCam and LMC often use .xml; some AGC builds use .agc.
- Backup: Save the settings that currently work before trying a new preset.
Use the XMLConfigFile download library to filter the available files. Filenames are useful clues, but do not independently prove compatibility.
How to import a GCam XML file
Many modified Google Camera ports can load XML presets. The menu and storage folder depend on the specific port and release.
-
Download a suitable preset Open the GCam collection and choose a file intended for your device and installed GCam build.
-
Check the expected config location Consult your camera port's instructions. Some versions use folders such as GCam/Configs7 or GCam/Configs8; these are examples, not universal paths.
-
Load the config in GCam Use the app's import or restore option. In some older ports, double-tapping the empty dark area beside the shutter opens a config chooser.
-
Apply and test Select the intended XML, restart the app if required, and compare photos. Restore your earlier preset if problems appear.
How to use LMC 8.4 XML configs
LMC 8.4 is a modified camera port with its own preset requirements. An XML built for another GCam port should not be assumed to work in LMC.
-
Choose an LMC preset Download a file made for LMC 8.4 and the relevant phone model where possible.
-
Place the file where your build expects it Some LMC 8.4 releases use an internal-storage folder named LMC8.4. Confirm the exact path for your installed build.
-
Open the configuration selector Use your LMC build's restore/import control. On some releases, double-tapping near the shutter opens the preset selector.
-
Restore and compare Choose the downloaded XML, allow the camera to reload if necessary and test normal, portrait and low-light scenes.
How to import an AGC configuration
AGC config handling can differ from GCam or LMC. Some AGC builds use .agc files and a built-in import feature instead of the usual XML restore method.
-
Identify the AGC version Open your installed app's About or Settings area and check the release before selecting a preset.
-
Download a matching file Choose an AGC configuration suitable for your device and the file format accepted by your version.
-
Use AGC's import method Open the app's config-management or import option, if available. Follow any folder instructions provided for your release.
-
Verify the new settings Confirm the preset loaded and take a few test photos. If the app becomes unstable, switch back to a known-working configuration.
When a config won't load
Try these quick checks before downloading more files. Select a question to see what to investigate.
The config file is not showing in my app
Check that the file has the required extension, was fully downloaded, and is in the folder expected by your exact camera build. Some ports only list configs after restarting the app.
I cannot find the import or restore option
Import controls vary by version. Look under the camera app's settings or config-management menu, or consult the developer's guide. The double-tap method is not supported by every port.
My camera crashes after importing
Return to your earlier settings if possible. If the app will not open, follow the port developer's recovery instructions. Avoid clearing app data before backing up anything you need to keep.
Photos look worse after loading a preset
A preset may be incompatible or simply unsuitable for the lighting and device. Compare the same scene with your previous settings; improved photo quality is never guaranteed.
Can I use any XML file with any phone?
No. Even presets with the same extension may contain settings for different phone sensors, app versions or port developers. Match the specific supported build whenever possible.
Keep your setup easy to reverse
Save the original file and existing settings, keep track of which version you tested, and change only one preset at a time. Do not download unknown APK installers merely to use a config file.
